Faculty member Teresa Christiansen presents a solo exhibition of photographs.
There will be an opening reception and book release on Thursday, September 5, 6-8pm.
Teresa Christiansen presents an exhibition of a selection of photographs from her current series Portland Porches. This project bridges the genres of landscape and portrait photography, examining identity through place. The images were made in response to aspects of the urban landscape that were new to Teresa in moving from New York City to Portland. She was drawn to the porch in particular as a fascinating phenomenon that functions as a welcoming platform and - especially in the rainy climate of Portland - as a second living room. It is a space that exists along the blurred boundary between public and private, at times acting as a venue for displays of individual expression while at others as an extension of the home and a space meant to be acknowledged as private.
This project is funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council.
The Corner Gallery is located off of Commons on the main campus of Pacific Northwest College of Art at 1241 NW Johnson St., Portland, OR 97209.
